The Poster has maintained content and recognisable colour scheme that allows the audience to familiarise themselves with the link between the poster and the film itself. the colour scheme is made up of shades of blues and blacks. However like in the trailer for this film, chaos theory can be seen. in this case chaos is shown through the logo being set on fire, with the use of red, yellow and orange. By this, it attracts the audience to go and see it.
The poster also uses box office names, like Christain Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart and Michael Caine. This allows the audience to identify themselves with who the cast members are. This also targets audiences who have enjoyed other film which they have starred in, for example if a part of the audience enjoyed other film which Heath Ledge starred in such as "The Brothers Grimm" or " Ned Kelly" then they would be attracted to the "The Dark Knight" through see his name.
There is also a billing block and the director's name used in the same way and shows the audience the quality of the film.
The poster contains the institution logos and the release date. The institution logos allow the audience to relate to the trailer. Also that the poster be based on action, fantasy and science fiction film it will have a Marvel or DC institution logo which in turn allows the audience to see that the film presents the comic book series.
The main image is of the Dark knight in front of a build on fire in the shape of logo that represents him. This stresses its importance to the plot of the film and shows a hint that chaos theory is being used and gives the audience more information into the film. The image also uses clade Levi Strauss binary opposition theory which is link to chaos theory. The link being that the dark knight also known as batman represents order and the building set on fire represents chaos.
